1994 Bay mare. Regional pleasure driving
champion at the NY Morgan
Purchased as a two year old broodmare prospect, Up Hyre
Morning Glory represents the best of Jack Boyd Smith's breeding program
at Up Hyre Morgan Farm. Out of the fine mare, Rapidan Early Dawn and by
the undeniably beautiful black stallion, Ultimate Command, Glory is a
wonderful representative of the modern Morgan with the breed's classic
disposition. Her pedigree is chocked full of mares with reputations for
being excellent producers. It was our hope that she would follow in the
hoof-steps of these "Grand Dams" in the breeding shed. She has not
disappointed us! Glory has demonstrated similar talents by producing
high quality offspring for us here at Teaka Creek!
Truly an awesome mare, Glory embodies the word
"versatility". Before breeding her, we believed she should be trained
and have her chance to prove herself - not only in the show ring, but
also in other areas as well. In addition to several halter wins over
her show career, as only a two-year-old, she captured a regional
championship in pleasure driving at the New York Morgan. After retiring
from the show ring, she went on to be a dependable trail horse and even
worked as a mounted police horse in the Chautauqua County Sheriff's
Mounted Police Division! With these accomplishments, we realized she
was truly an exceptional mare with an
excellent mind and a great work ethic. She has been passing on this
wonderful disposition and versatile nature to all of her foals. With one
look at her offspring, you can see for yourself her track record when
bred to HollyBrook Braveheart. We have come to consider
this our "golden" and "cookie-cutter cross", as time and time again, she
has produced one gorgeous foal after another. Trimmed in chrome, these
babies are eye-catching with their flashy, beautiful heads. They
command people's attention with their elegance and correctness. In
addition, they are very intelligent, so they are "quick studies".
Easily trained and very willing, these foals have gone on to be enjoyed
by amateur owners.
Glory is in her teens now, and we desperately want a
filly from her
that, in the future, we can breed to our stallion, HollyBrook
Braveheart. Therefore, we have decided to breed her to outside
stallions in the hopes of getting a filly worthy of carrying on her
legacy. It is difficult to know how long it will take for us to
accomplish this, so it is anyone's guess as to when we will once again
cross Glory to Braveheart. If you like what she has produced to date,
we would encourage you to contact us about her 2008 foal, as it will be
for sale. The next one might not be.
So, in light of this fact, we would like to announce our
stallion pick
for 2009! Glory will be bred to Bocelli (Beethoven X Sioux's Hot
Tamale) for a 2009 foal! We were very impressed with the foals he has
produced to date. He carries bloodlines very different from what we
have here on the farm, and we feel he will be an excellent outcross.
Bocelli complements Glory very nicely, so we look forward to what they
will produce together next spring!
